In Addition to Clifton Physical Therapy, What Other Therapy Services Does Dr. Hanna Offer?

Physical Therapy: Pain Treatment Specialists offer excellent physical therapy services for neck pain, back pain, knee pain, shoulder pain, hip pain, elbow pain and joint pain. Physical therapy works by reducing the swelling and pain of your body’s injured soft tissue, restoring function. One special type of physical therapy offered is manual therapy, which involves kneading, manipulations and mobilizations of the soft tissues and joints. Joint and soft tissue mobilizations and manipulations are special maneuvers that differ in the degree of force that’s applied; mobilizations use less force and manipulations use more force.

Knee Pain Treatments:

  • Steroid Knee Injection: Corticosteroid injections delivered by a pain medicine doctor into the knee joint can reduce your knee pain and swelling. This treatment can enable you to participate in physical therapy.
  • Iovera: Pain physicians deliver this cold therapy, known as “cryotherapy,” to freeze peripheral nerves that cause pain in joints, like the knee. This freezing of the nerve deactivates it from feeling pain.
  • Genicular Nerve Block: When injections and other therapies fail, pain medicine specialists use ultrasound and a local anesthetic medication to block the genicular nerve of the knee from feeling pain.
  • Genicular Nerve Radiofrequency Ablation: When other treatments fail to treat chronic knee pain, pain doctors turn to radiofrequency ablation of the genicular nerve (GNRFA). GNRFA involves genicular nerve block followed by removal of the genicular nerve with radiofrequency.

Back Pain Treatments:

  • Lumbar Epidural: Pain physicians administer lumbаr еріdurаl, a combination of a corticosteroid injection and local anesthetic medication, to treat low back and leg pain. This treatment can enable you to participate in physical therapy.
  • Lumbar Facet Injection: Corticosteroid injections delivered by a pain doctor into the facet joints of the spine can reduce your back pain and swelling. This treatment can enable you to participate in physical therapy.
  • MILD Procedure: MILD, or “Minimally Invasive Lumbar Decompression,” is a special procedure performed by pain physicians to treat lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS). LSS is narrowing of the spinal canal that compresses the spinal cord and nerves of the lower back. With a very small lumbar incision and imaging guidance, small pieces of bone and excess tissue are removed to decrease nerve compression.
  • Lumbar Radiofrequency Ablation: When other treatments fail to treat chronic back pain, pain doctors turn to radiofrequency ablation of the lumbar spinal nerves. This treatment involves lumbar spinal nerve block and removal using radiofrequency. It is performed at affected facet joints of the spine.
  • SI Joint Injection: Corticosteroid injections are delivered by a pain doctor into the sacroiliac (SI) joint, which connects the sacrum and ilium bones of the pelvis. This treatment can reduce your back pain and swelling, and enable you to participate in physical therapy.

What to Expect at Your First Visit:

Dr. George Hanna will meet you for your scheduled consultation. At this time, he will have the opportunity to talk with you about your overall health and your specific pain symptoms. After getting to know you and your pain better, Dr. Hanna will perform a physical examination and imaging studies. With this information, he will be able to diagnose your pain condition. He will then begin working with you on designing a treatment plan to best meet your needs, utilizing the therapy services outlined above. Finally, you will meet with a member of our billing department. She will help explain to you your treatment insurance coverage and benefits. Before any treatment is done, you will be given a detailed outline of how much you will owe (if anything). We will work directly with your insurance company to help you get treated as soon as possible. You can rest assured that there will be no surprise bills or hidden costs.
