Do you want to treat the root cause of lower back pain without surgeries?

WE NOW OFFER VERTIFLEX™
FOR SPINAL STENOSIS

Back-Cutouts-mobile

MINIMALLY INVASIVE | NON-SURGICAL | ZERO DOWNTIME

WHАT ІЅ VERTIFLEX™ ?

The Vertiflex Superion is an FDA-approved interspinous spacer that alleviates lower back pain by restoring optimal space between the vertebrae. This is a minimally invasive procedure for lumbar spinal stenosis, a medical condition wherein the abnormal narrowing of the spinal canal in the lower back region leads to symptoms of nerve compression and lower back pain. The Vertiflex procedure involves inserting an implant to spread the vertebrae apart, restore optimal space between the vertebrae, and alleviate back pain.

Patients suffering from lower back pain usually undergo epidural injections, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, and other pain management solutions. Epidural injections and NSAIDs usually work brilliantly, but they can’t treat the root cause of lower back pain, i.e., they can’t restore intervertebral space. When all other pain management solutions fail, the Vertiflex procedure proves to be the most effective pain management treatment. This procedure is also suitable for patients who don’t want to undergo spine surgery.

Corrected vertebrae with the Vertiflex

Most of the surgical treatments for spinal stenosis focus on fusing the adjacent vertebrae. But the Vertiflex procedure restores the optimal disc space between the vertebrae while preserving the option for future surgery. Until recently, patients suffering from lower back pain due to spinal stenosis had two options: live with the pain or undergo a complex surgical procedure. But thanks to the Vertiflex Superion, patients can lead a pain-free life without relying on surgery or constant medications.

What To Expect From a Vertiflex Treatment?

Here’s a short summary of what to expect from the treatment procedure

YouTube video

Initiall consultation: The Vertiflex treatment starts with a thorough consultation with our pain management doctors. During your consultation, the pain management doctor will carefully examine your lower back, identify the range of motion, and administer various imaging tests to determine the root cause of lower back pain. If you have lumbar spinal stenosis, the pain management doctor may recommend the Vertiflex procedure after trying a few other conservation solutions.

The Vertiflex procedure: Is performed under local anesthesia. The pain management doctor will numb the affected area and make a small 0.5-inch incision at the insertion site. Under fluoroscopic guidance, the pain management doctor will insert a dime-sized tube (known as a dilator) to move the surrounding tissues away. The dilator will give the pain management doctor a clear path for the Vertiflex implant placement.

After inserting the Vertiflex implant, the pain management doctor will adjust its wings to spread the vertebrae apart, returning them to the ideal position. After securing the Vertiflex implant, the surgeon closes the incision and covers it with a band-aid. The entire Vertiflex procedure concludes within 30 minutes, depending on the number of implants you need. Since the tissues around the vertebrae aren’t cut or damaged, the recovery period is minimal.

Post-treatment recovery: After the Vertiflex procedure, you will gradually notice improvements over the next few days. Your body will need around 6 weeks to heal from the procedure, so you should avoid strenuous workouts and physical activities throughout this period. You can engage in light activities and work after a few days, but strenuous workouts should be avoided for 4 to 6 weeks. This procedure will alleviate pain within a few days.

Hоw еffесtіvе іѕ VertiflexTM?

The Vertiflex procedure is incredibly effective in reducing or alleviating lower back pain caused by spinal stenosis. According to the IDE study, the Vertiflex procedure displayed a 5-year patient satisfaction rate exceeding 89%. Furthermore, the Journal Pain research showed an 85% decreased use of opioids amongst patients at the 5-year mark. These results indicate that nearly all patients experienced dramatic improvements in back pain.

What causes lumbar spinal stenosis?

Lumbar spinal stenosis is a condition wherein the space between the vertebrae in the lower back narrows, leading to the compression of the surrounding nerves. Osteoarthritis is the most common cause of lumbar spinal stenosis, but some of the other possible causes include narrowing of the spinal canal, spinal injuries, bone diseases, spinal tumors, and rheumatoid arthritis.
